Balkerne Tower Trust Ltd is a Company Limited by Guarantee, No 5705606. It was initially set up in an attempt to bid for Jumbo when the building was sold by auction in February 2006.
We decided to remain in being, if only to be involved with the public access scheme which was part of the penthouse conversion for which permission had been granted on appeal by the previous owner. However work on this conversion never started and permission expired in December 2006.
After seeking advice from relevant bodies, we then decided to apply for registered charity status in the hope of achieving our aims for Jumbo, and this was finally granted in July 2008. We are registered charity No 1124778.
Our Patron is Sir Bob Russell. Our Trustees are currently Bill Frame, Alan Lees, Brian Light (Chair), Julian Lord ACIB (Treasurer) and Janet Plummer.
